The Inside Scoop

...Cash grabbers The San Francisco Chronicle's Ira Miller reported that three-time Super Bowl MVP Joe Montana skipped the NFL's pregame ceremony because he couldn't be guaranteed $100,000 in appearance fees for showing up in Detroit.

MVPs from 32 of 39 Super Bowls took the field before the game Sunday.

Montana, Terry Bradshaw, Jake Scott (Miami defensive back from Super Bowl VII) and the late Harvey Martin were the only no-shows.

Miller reported that Bradshaw's absence was also related to money and that Scott is on vacation in Australia.
