'Against the background of adverse market development, especially in Brazil, Bayer CropScience will not yet be able to achieve its target underlying EBITDA margin of 25 pct for 2006,' chief executive Werner Wenning said.

In 2005, the margin was 20.5 pct.

Therefore, the company will carry out further restructuring in the unit to improve profitability.

Back on a group basis, sales in 2006 are seen exceeding 28 bln eur, or an increase of around 5 pct on a currency and portfolio-adjusted basis.
